Puccini Project Trio
2011-10-14
FABRIZIO MOCATA - piano
GIANMARCO SCAGLIA - double bass
GIOVANNI PAOLO LIGUORI - drums
The project was founded by the pianist Fabrizio Mocata from Sicily, who, after a bizarre encounter in the land of Puccini, Tuscany, decided to recompose the music of the famous Puccini for Jazz.
After a thorough selection process and rewriting of the project, it was released in 2008. In this journey into the music of Puccini, beside Mocata, there are two indisputable musicians: Gianmarco Scaglia on double bass and drummer Ettore Fioravanti.
The three musicians resonate arias from La Boheme, Turandot and Madama
Butterfly as well as original compositions of both, Mocata and Scaglia.
The arias are taken from various famous works by Puccini. In Madam
Butterfly we have the immortal "Choir of closed-mouth" transformed into a
rhythmic even 8 and the meditative "Butterfly Milonga," reflects the
sound of Argentine tango, which music Mocata knows very well.
From "The Bohemian" we have the famous Musetta's Waltz ("Quando me'n vo") turned into a fun rhythm game.
Still to mention the dreamy and mysterious "Nessun Dorma", from the
famous "Turandot", where the trio uses a very confidential language.
