HELGA PLANKENSTEINER - voice, sax
MICHAEL LOESCH - Hammond organ
ENRICO TERRAGNOLI - guitar
PAOLO MAPPA - drums
The music of El Porcino Organic is a bundle of bitter irony, imaginative freshness and joy of living.
The musicians of the quartet are not easy to classify. The South-Tyrolean Helga Plankensteiner proves temperament as inspiration: a talented multi-instrumentalist, but here we listen only to her main instruments, baritone sax and voice. On the Hammond organ we find with Michael Lösch, a name for excellence in the South-Tyrolean jazz. The band is completed by the presence of Paolo Mappa on drums and by the new and valuable musician Enrico Terragnoli on guitar.
Among the band’s performed compositions there are some strong styles: the boogaloo and organ jazz in general, as well as a trace of true hard bop.
The arrangements switch between styles at any time.
In addition to original compositions there are arrangements of well known themes that are not necessarily from the Jazz: the Doors, Tom Waits and John Lurie swirl around as if they where on Fellini’s circus ring.
